My grades are in

My semester GPA is 3.476 and my cumulative GPA is 3.208. The dean's list is a semester GPA of at least 3.5 so we'll see if I qualify.

Updates

Sorry I know it's been a while since I've updated this. But my portfolio blog is up-to-date for the most part :)

Check your e-mails for a Sweetest Day ecard from Saturday and also the first issue of the semester for The Waterfront, which is the online magazine that I am the co-layout editor of (I know you're not suppose to end a sentence with a preposition but it's a blog so who cares lol). It's for the Society of Professional Journalists Loyola Chapter.

I've sent out all my internship applications for the spring (except for the 3 that I have to mail today) and I already have two interviews lined up. One is for the Builder's Association's publication and the other is for www.ChicagoAgentMagazine.com

Also, my Sapphire Sister and the rest of our 39 new girls were initiated into the sorority yesterday. She made ma an AMAZING paddle. Pictures are below! The letters she's wearing are the ones I got her.

I absolutely love the city...

A cute little park on the way to my friend's apt building

Killer's new digs

The fountain in the center of the park

Fireworks at Navy Pier. They're every Saturday in the summer. So much fun :)

Hopefully my *last* new bike for a while

Just picked it up tonight. It rides like a dream! Cannot wait to take it on the lakefront trail tomorrow morning :)

Brand New!

Brand New, my ALL TIME FAVORITE BAND, is projecting a summer release of their new album. They just announced less than a dozen U.S. tour dates and of course Chicago sold out in minutes (they're small venues but Brand New always sells out no matter where it plays). The other closest show is in Detroit and tickets go on sale Thursday so cross your fingers that I score some! No St. Louis date has been announced yet and idk if they will make a stop there :(

More concerts!

I won 2 free tickets to the Warped Tour in Chicago August 1st! My friend got us tickets to see Blink 182 and Fallout Boy on August 4th in Milwaukee, too. We'll be 15 rows from the stage!
I cannot wait!!

New iPhone software and new MODEL announced!

The latest iPhone software will be released June 17th for free to all iPhone users and the newest model the iPhone 3GS will be released 2 days later. The iPhone 3GS will be double the memory for the exact same price I paid for my current iPhone 3G last year. I'm eligible for an upgrade through ATT on August 20th so the new iPhone will be my belated birthday gift to myself :)

Concertssss

I am going to see Green Day July 13 at the United Center! I'm also looking into tickets for No Doubt and Paramore. And I'll of course be at all the free shows during Taste of Chicago :)

New bike!

This one will be secured inside with a kryptonite u-lock. I will not let this one get stolen. It's a ladies bike (the other was a men's bike) so it's smaller but it will probably fit me better since I am only 5'7" haha. Oh, and it's hot pink. Malibu Barbie would be jealous lol :)

Sox game Tuesday

My friend Cait and I went to the Sox game on Tuesday because they had half off bleacher tickets. It was awesome! We won 6-2 and we were one television when Thome hit a triple run. It landed exactly 4 rows behind us! And the guy sitting directly behind me caught a ball one of the As outfielders (Sweeney, a former Sox) caught and threw into the stands. It was super cold but definitely worth it :)

The only cool thing Collinsville ever does...

Collinsville is hosting a Wii Guitar Hero Tournament this Friday. I'm super mad I won't be there because I am awesome a Guitar Hero!!

Oh, and my really good friend Cait got Blink 182 concert tickets for August 4th in Milwaukee. The seats are 15 rows back. Can't Wait!

Internship update

I didn't get the internship I interviewed for. It would have conflicted with my work schedule so I'm actually glad I didn't get it. Plus I'm working 30 hours a week now so that might have been a bit much on top of it because I would be required to work 10+ hours a week.

My new haircut and first tattoo!

Al Gore was obviously mistaken

The weather here has still yet to get above 68 degrees. And it rains pretty much every couple of days. Today I had to ride 50 minutes from the downtown campus to my job on the main campus in the rain. It was not pleasant. I really hope it stops raining by 5 so I can make it home somewhat dry (even though my clothes are still soaking wet from this morning). I just wish it would finally get into the 80s so I can go to the beach. by this time last year it was already sweltering. It seems like winter never wants to end anymore. So much for the earth getting hotter lol.

Hope everything is well with you guys and the weather is better than it is here!

Internships

Forgot to mention, I'm in the process of applying for an international studies internship working with refugees to the city and I have an interview sometime this week for a journalism internship with a newspaper that is delivered to all of the city's taxi drivers. I also got a call back from an environmental publication paper about working with them for extra experience. Either way, I'm hoping to have at least one internship this summer! I'll keep you guys updated.

New Roommates

So far I only have 2 roommates this summer as opposed to 3. They both moved in yesterday but I only met one. The first thing she did when she came in was exclaim that she was joining me because I was watching Family Guy and then she told me she got excited when she saw my Wii. We will definitely get along haha. She's sharing the same bedroom with me since the other bedroom doesn't have a vanity in the bathroom. So our 3rd roommate gets a room to herself but a crappy bathroom lol so it's an even trade I feel.
Over the weekend some of my really good friends graduated. A lot of them are going home or already have but at least a few will be staying downtown/on the north campus so I'm happy about that. I can't believe I'm only 2 years away from graduation. So scary lol.
Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know all is well! I'm enjoying my summer (more like barely Spring with this weather!) so I hope you guys are, too!
Love you guys!

My first White Sox game

I went with a few friends to the White Sox game tonight and it was awesome! They won 6-0, scoring the 5 runs in the first inning! I am now an official Sox fan. As long as they're not playing the Cardinals of course :-)
Oh, and they even had a Polish player. Only in Chicago!
This is how close we were!

Pictures from my birthday

I finally uploaded these pics from birthday this past summer.
