Al Gore was obviously mistaken

The weather here has still yet to get above 68 degrees. And it rains pretty much every couple of days. Today I had to ride 50 minutes from the downtown campus to my job on the main campus in the rain. It was not pleasant. I really hope it stops raining by 5 so I can make it home somewhat dry (even though my clothes are still soaking wet from this morning). I just wish it would finally get into the 80s so I can go to the beach. by this time last year it was already sweltering. It seems like winter never wants to end anymore. So much for the earth getting hotter lol.

Hope everything is well with you guys and the weather is better than it is here!

Internships

Forgot to mention, I'm in the process of applying for an international studies internship working with refugees to the city and I have an interview sometime this week for a journalism internship with a newspaper that is delivered to all of the city's taxi drivers. I also got a call back from an environmental publication paper about working with them for extra experience. Either way, I'm hoping to have at least one internship this summer! I'll keep you guys updated.

New Roommates

So far I only have 2 roommates this summer as opposed to 3. They both moved in yesterday but I only met one. The first thing she did when she came in was exclaim that she was joining me because I was watching Family Guy and then she told me she got excited when she saw my Wii. We will definitely get along haha. She's sharing the same bedroom with me since the other bedroom doesn't have a vanity in the bathroom. So our 3rd roommate gets a room to herself but a crappy bathroom lol so it's an even trade I feel.
Over the weekend some of my really good friends graduated. A lot of them are going home or already have but at least a few will be staying downtown/on the north campus so I'm happy about that. I can't believe I'm only 2 years away from graduation. So scary lol.
Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know all is well! I'm enjoying my summer (more like barely Spring with this weather!) so I hope you guys are, too!
Love you guys!

My first White Sox game

I went with a few friends to the White Sox game tonight and it was awesome! They won 6-0, scoring the 5 runs in the first inning! I am now an official Sox fan. As long as they're not playing the Cardinals of course :-)
Oh, and they even had a Polish player. Only in Chicago!
This is how close we were!

Pictures from my birthday

I finally uploaded these pics from birthday this past summer.

Yeaaaaaa

I somehow pulled off a B in Italian (which I'm VERY happy about), I got a B- in Communication Ethics (which should have been at least a B or higher but the professor was the worst ever), and an A in both Communication Research Methods and my Sociology class on Terrorism. I still have over a 3.1 GPA :)

Too funny

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

The 5th of May should always be on a Tuesday because of Taco Tuesdays! After work I'll be enjoying free tacos at a restaurant downtown, which will definitely make today a good day haha. Hope you enjoy your day!

Lakefront trail

Here are a few pictures from my bike ride tonight on the lakefront trail. It was getting dark pretty fast so a lot of them didn't turn out very well, but I'm sure I'll take plenty more the rest of the summer.

Hahaha

Bored at work again...

Finally done with finals :)

My last final took exactly 25 minutes to complete. It was either extremely easy or I had no idea what I was doing (which the latter better not be true since I had been studying my butt off from 7am until 1pm today when the final began).
I've been cleaning my room/rearranging things before my new roommates move in next week. Once I'm finished tonight I'll post some pictures. I finally found my pictures of the room when we first moved in during the fall, so I'll post those too.
I'm riding the lakefront trail for the first time this evening when I get off work. It's 14 miles from the north campus to downtown. I can't wait! Maybe I'll take a few pictures along the way. If the weather would stay like this (maybe in the 70s instead of the 60s though), it would be perfect bike riding weather.
I'm getting groceries tonight since my meal plan ends tomorrow. This should be an interesting experience since I've only ever really bought snacks for in between meals or if I knew I wouldn't be able to make it to the food court before it closed. It will definitely be an adventure haha.

Love and miss you guys!

My new wheels

This is a couple pics I took of my bike outside work today. Isn't it pretty for a guy's bike? I love the green color. And it looks almost brand new!

My new roommate

This is Killer. He's a beta fish that I adopted today because he was not being taken care of properly. As you can see his water is as clear as can be because I scrubbed his bowl and fed him like a good fish owner. Right now he's my only roommate until the 3 girls I'll be sharing my dorm with this summer move in next week. He's great company and helped me clean all day (mostly just watched but he was there for encouragement).

Going Green

I just purchased the bike I was talking about getting from a Loyola student. It's a Trek mountain bike with some extra add ons the girl's brother put on it (he works at a big shop). According to the campus safety officer that was telling me where to register my bike to store it safely on campus, it's a very expensive bike because it's made out of aluminum and a very popular brand. It was only $30 and I got a lock for it for $5. The tires need air but the girl said if I put air in them and they start leaking to call her and she'll give me new tire tubes her brother gave her for free. So I definitely got a great deal. I can't wait to start riding it to work every day on Monday :-)

Oh, and my first final grade was posted: I got an A in my communication research methods class! Definitely going to be out celebrating tonight haha.
